(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - An Islamic Jihad leader underlined his group's strong resolve to continue resistance against the Zionist regime, and called on the Palestinian Authority to immediately end the so-called peace talks with Israel.

"As we know, it is high time that the option of compromise and negotiation with the Zionist regime reached a deadlock," Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement Ramazan Shallah said in a ceremony in Gaza on Friday.

"Hence, it is highly questionable why the PA leaders still insist on this option," Shallah asked.

He further stressed that no nation in the world is prepared to hold negotiations with its enemies, and said that the PA by holding talks with the Zionist regime disrespected the Palestinian people, cautioning that the Israeli-PA talks seem to be a plot against the Palestinian people.

He called for an immediate end to negotiations between the Palestinian Authority and the Zionist regime.

Shallah also reiterated the necessity of unity and integrity among the Palestinian groups and factions, and called on all Palestinian groups to get united and end their internal disputes and differences.

The so-called peace talks froze in December 2008 after Israel launched a deadly attack on the Gaza Strip, which claimed the lives of 1,400 at the turn of 2009.

Acting Palestinian Authority (PA) Chief Mahmoud Abbas, who agreed to sit at the negotiating table with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu without any preconditions, has faced mounting criticism from Palestinians who accuse the PA of bending under "US and Israeli pressure".

Palestinian people and almost all Palestinian groups and factions have voiced strong opposition against the US-sponsored talks between the Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority and Tel Aviv, saying the negotiations would only embolden the Israeli occupation.
